For the first time in many years I will miss the beautiful poppy (coquelicots) fields in bloom in my native France. But... I have enough memories all the way from my childhood and photo references to keep painting them. Here is to spring, hope and renewal!

No travel in sight for some time but there is plenty of painting inspiration around town. At sunset, the intense western light turns this white house at the edge of the Audubon into bright golds and oranges.

No need to go far to find my painting inspiration in winter. Another favorite area in town for my daily walks is the Shaker Village that takes you to the Bennetts Brook at the end of the road.

I walk or drive by Prospect Hill Farm, dedicated to volunteer farming for hunger relief, in my town every day - http://www.community-harvest.org/. The light and shadows on one of the barns were striking on this particular winter day.

I was teaching a pastel class when the late afternoon light came through the trees adjacent to the property. Everyone stopped their work, grabbed their phones and snapped away. This is my own interpretation of a precious moment.

It is during this holiday season that I feel most nostalgic about my native Normandy. This early morning scene in the Salines on the coast, is to remind me of a wonderful family gathering this fall, hiking through this sheep salt meadow as the haze slowly lifted.
