My attempt at abstraction in Debora Stewart's wonderful workshop this last week end at the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset. Three days outside of my comfort zone, but I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. Now, how to incorporate some of that abstract magic into my work....
A smooth sky demo in my class at the Fruitlands Museum this week. I started the process with a watercolor under painting, then blended the pastel pigment with isolation piping before adding the final light layers of color. Thank you Sharron K. for providing the reference photo.
The rocky coast of Maine is an endless source of inspiration. The texture, shapes, colors of the rocks and the wild vegetation that grows in their cracks (asters being my favorite) was the inspiration for "Nestled", a first in my new Rocks of Maine series.
Nothing formal about the upcoming reception for the "Irresistible" show at the Yarmouth Gallery in Yarmouth, Maine on Saturday 13 February from 4 to 7PM. Just a good time with friends and art lovers. Come and enjoy refreshments and great art from the gallery artists. Hope to see many of you there! The show runs until May in case you miss the reception.
My name is Joelle Levallet-Feldman. I was born and raised in Normandy, France and return every year to visit family and friends and rediscover the endless supply of inspiring scenes, each begging to be painted. Inspiration is also abundant in my adopted New England home, where the coast of Maine, orchards of Massachusetts and charming architecture are welcoming to any artist.
Media: oil, pastel and watercolor.
