Frigid Air

Frigid Air - Pastel 11 x 14

I try to walk everyday, even in winter. I do make exception when it is 5 degrees Fahrenheit with a windchill factor of minus 15... It is wiser to take some quick pictures of the frozen landscape and paint it in the studio.

Smelling the Flowers

Smelling the Flowers - Pastel 10 x 10

Next in my "Street Moments" series. San Miguel is in full bloom in April: pink, red, yellow bougainvillea, purple Jacaranda trees and a multitude of other flowering plants. A feast for the eyes. Lingering behind her companion, this lady seemed to be taking her time to appreciate and smell the flowers...

Daily Walk

Daily Walk - Pastel 10 x 10

Saw this gentleman taking his daily walk a couple of times while I was painting plein air in San Miguel de Allende (Mexico). Same outfit, same pace and his lady not far behind. I will post her next.

Waiting for the Work Crew

Waiting for the Work Crew
Pastel 8 x 10

Wishing all my friends, family and patrons a very Happy New Year filled with happiness, love, health, peace and art.

The new year is time for new beginnings.  I have started a series of paintings that has been on my mind for several years. The scenes are inspired by "Street moments" that caught my eye while traveling in different countries and places in the US. This first painting is from San Miguel de Allende. I was attracted by this young man sitting amid the rusted work buckets and traffic cone while waiting for his co-workers.
