There are hundreds of allium plants, including the onions and garlic we eat. I saw this cluster of the ornamental variety at the Montreal Botanical Gardens and loved its onion’s round ball shaped flower heads. It is surprising that the thin stems can hold such heavy looking purple heads! They are so much fun that I think everyone should grow them in their garden!

The blooming lilies continued on around the Flower Brook with a backdrop of blues and yellows. I love the combination of colors and you can't ever get enough flowers!

"Flower Brook in Bloom"

One of my favorite pastime is to visit botanical gardens wherever I travel. The Flower Brook at the Montreal Nature Museum is quite a treat in early summer. I visited this beautiful English style garden with a meandering brook over the July 4th week-end. Irises, peonies, daylilies, lilies and other perennials provided a symphony of colors and the inspiration for this painting. I am happy to share this great site with my friend Marie-Anne.
