Path to the Villa - Pastel 9 x 12
I recently returned from a memorable trip to Tuscany. This country road lined with cypress trees and poppies led to the villa we rented on Sienna's hillside.
The last of my forsythia mini series. A beautiful profusion of yellow to be enjoyed while it lasts! These bushes are now an undistinguishable green among other bushes.
This painting is also available at the Yarmouth Gallery for the "Key to Contrasts" show which will be on until September 2018.
Another scene of forsythia in bloom before they all turn green.
This painting is available at the Yarmouth Gallery for the "Key to Contrasts" show. The Artists Opening Reception is on May 19, 4:00 to 7:00PM. Come and enjoy the show which will be on until September.
After a long winter, spring burst alive in just one week. I set up my easel and painting gear on my porch and painted this forsythia bush in its full yellow glory in my back yard. New England is at its best in the spring!
Painting the streets of San Miguel de Allende was just pure eye candy!

April in the Netherlands - Pastel 10 x 10 Sold
Taking a break from painting snow. I have been feeling a great need for color in these recent dreary winter days. No better painting subject than the most amazing blazes of color that cover the landscape of the Netherlands in April. I photographed these yellow tulip rows while on the train from Amsterdam to Amersfoort.
The subject may have been a little too ambitious for this 20 minutes marathon, but I made it (after a couple of wipe offs)! I find the daily 20-30 minutes exercise very helpful to build confidence, loosen up and overcoming the dreaded painter's block. I am committed to keeping up the routine....
Day 3 of the ART + WORK + LIVING 5 day challenge sponsored by Mary Gilkerson. Pressure is on to complete a painting in 20 minutes or less. This one took 25 minutes. Working to achieve the goal in the next 2 days. It is an energizing process....
Day 2 of the ART + WORK + LIVING 5 day challenge sponsored by Mary Gilkerson. I am keeping with the theme of painting my street to build muscle memory. This one is from a different angle and more intense sky. I was tempted to add the phone poles on the left for added movement but decided to stop just before the alarm went off. It took 29 minutes. We'll see if I can achieve a 20 minutes painting by day 5....
I am participating in the ART + WORK + LIVING 5 day challenge sponsored by Mary Gilkerson. I have chosen to paint the snowy end of my street at dusk for my first daily painting. It took 35 minutes. The goal is to decrease the painting time to 20 minutes by day 5. Really enjoying this!
Wishing all my wonderful friends, collectors and followers a very happy New Year 2018! Thank you all for your continuous support, comments and encouragement. You make my painting journey all worth while....Winter has arrived and with it beautiful snow scenes that must be painted!
