In Full Sun

The 0live tree is a typical element of the Provencal landscape, and has flourished by the Mediterranean since 6000 b.c. It is a symbol of peace (the olive branch), perseverance (survives in arid, sun-baked soil) and gastronomy (salade nicoise, tapenade and countless delicious recipes).

My friends Bobbi, Kitty and Suzanne and I were inspired by the beautiful shape and glimmering pale greens of this lone olive tree bathing in the high noon heat. Each painted interpretation will be gracing the walls of the Yarmouth Frame Shop and Gallery for our show "Postcards from Provence," which opens on February 12th. More details on the exhibit in my next blog.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
Luscious Bunch
Pastel 4 x 4

As we turn the page on 2010, I have many things to be thankful for. It has been a great year of painting and constant learning. I took wonderful instructive workshops with Carol Marine, Colin Page and Gail Browne, was in juried shows at the Concord Art Association and River Arts and exhibited my work in multiple galleries and venues. It has been great to have my own online gallery in the Artists International Gallery and to be given exposure to so many talented artists. I declare last year a successful year and I enter 2011 with great anticipation to grow as a painter and expand my horizons through more workshops, attending and giving demos and expanding my painters network.

I wish you all a very happy new year. Thanks a million to all my friends and followers for their continued support. Let 2011 be a luscious bunch of cherries!
